How will I be notified if an employer is interested?

The "Message Inbox" link on your profile under Employers would have blink with (1) new message and it would have the names of employers who have viewed and saved your resume for a possible contact / interest.
What is the average length of time it takes to secure a job, starting from the initial time of the application?

The time required in order to secure a job is dependent on many factors such as availability of opportunities, suitability of your candidature, etc. Although it is difficult to quantify the timeline, some candidates have secured employment through JID within a month.
Do employers generally fly potential candidates out to Dubai? Based on my resume, what are the chances of an employer flying me over for an interview?

It is quite common for employers to fly potential employees out to the Middle East. Some companies prefer candidates to travel at their own expense and some international companies may hold interviews in your home country. This up to you to negotiate with the potential employer.
How do I create a Profile Snapshot?

Once you have received a personal file #, log in to your account and update your profile. Click on "enable snapshot" button to create a profile Snapshot. Upload your passport size picture (optional) along with your snapshot. You can also preview and edit your snapshot anytime. Pictures must be .jpg or .gif format, no larger than 100Kb. and a maximum of 100 pixels x 100 pixels.
How do I update my resume or make changes to my information on the database?

You can edit your resume at any time by logging in to your profile with your file #.
What does Health Coverage include?

Most companies have their own health plans, and there is also government health care available to all individuals with an annual fee. Health coverage includes regular physician visits and hospitalization costs. Are the jobs generally permanent or contract? If they are contract, how long is the contract period?

Jobs are generally permanent but contract positions are not uncommon. The usual contract period is 1 year with either a 3 or 6 month probationary period.
Do foreigners typically drive around themselves OR do they usually hire a driver? If people drive themselves, is my driver's license issued from my home country sufficient?

Most people drive themselves around. You would have to transfer your current non-UAE driver’s license to a UAE driver's license. Some countries’ licenses are immediately transferable. However, be prepared that some nationalities may be required to pass a local driving test before receiving a UAE license. These are only issued once you have a residence visa, however temporary licenses are available and rental vehicles can be driven on international driving licenses.
What are the food (i.e. grocery) and clothing costs, compared to North America or Europe?

Living costs are generally lower than in North America. Clothing is similar to North America, with choices from various designers but this is part of the voyage of discovery in a new city! Dubai is known as a 'Shoppers Paradise'.
I want to visit home while I'm working in Dubai. Do employers pay for airfare to and from Dubai?

The usual employment package includes 30 days paid vacation, there usually is travel included to your place of citizenship which includes 1 annual return for you and could include air fare for your immediate family. The airfare may be offered once a year or once every other year.
