Reporting to the Department Manager, the Structural Inspection Assistant will be assisting in conducting condition assessments and inspections on transportation structures. This position is primarily in the field and will require travel.
Responsibilities:
Structural investigation related to bridges and other transportation infrastructure in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings and other specifications
Condition evaluation of existing structures (Bridge Condition Survey, Field Work)
Concrete coring, drilling and marking (Field Work)
Working outdoor, at height, in elevated platform and inspection using scissor lift/elevating device
Use of structural design tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft business products
Expanding responsibilities will be assigned upon demonstrated competence from the successful candidate
Prepares/assists in preparing engineering plans, documents, schedules or reports, as assigned
Prepares construction cost estimates
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a post secondary education program in Civil or Structural Engineering Technology
