Job Description

Food Safety as per Brand standard

1. Manage criteria for ingredients and recipes to ensure Otarian foods meet standards for reducing environmental impact.
2. Manage criteria for ingredients and recipes to ensure Otarian foods meet consumer demand, including: nutrition content; suitability for special diets; suitability for children or other target markets; use of additives; use of genetically modified and irradiated ingredients; and other criteria as appropriate.
3. Manage quality benchmarks for Otarian foods to ensure consumer acceptance.
4. Approve all ingredients used by Otarian prior to use, to ensure they meet brand standards.
5. Approve all Otarian recipes, to ensure they meet brand standards.

Product Information

1. Prepare and approve nutrition information, allergen information, ingredients listing, and suitability for special diets for all Otarian recipes including Retail range.
2. Provide product information on all recipes for internal use by Operations.
3. Prepare or approve consumer focused product information for communication to consumers and media.
4. Prepare or approve key messages and claims for Otarian foods, as appropriate.

5. Ensure Correct and quality printing of marketing material and food labels


Product Development

1. Develop and manage the product development process.
2. Manage the product development plan, prioritising projects that deliver maximum return to Otarian.
3. Develop and manage market research relating to sustainability, nutrition, quality, and Otarian foods, including sensory analysis.
4. Monitor food trends that are relevant to Otarian.
5. Monitor competitors, and trade and research bodies to understand industry activity.
6. Evaluate the market potential of new products, and the potential return to Otarian.
7. Manage new product launches and associated promotional activity.


Technical Management

1. Provide technical expertise to Operations and ingredients suppliers on food related issues, as appropriate.
2. Oversee development and management of food safety management systems for Otarian.
3. Implement a quality programme, to ensure quality is an integral part of Otarian operations.
4. Provide technical input to sourcing of packaging and ingredients for Otarian
