Job Description

My client is a leading marine construction contractor in the Gulf and we are currenlty accepting applications on thier behalf for the role of QC Manager on a large port development project in Iraq.

The role will involve:

8 Km breakwater

Rock protection

Dredging

Earthworks

Concrete Works

Construction of two sheltered basins


The appointed QC Manager acts in the following roles



- Project Quality Representative

- Project Audit Programme Manager, the coordination of all audits for the projects

- Handover Coordinator to coordinate the approval of documentation dossiers and records packages for submission as part of handover of the project on completion


Maintain the Project Document Register
Maintain dedicated line of communication with the Project Manager, and, the Regional
Material Manager on project quality and materials related matters
Manage and coordinate all quality control (inspection and test) activities on site, and where necessary, those at Vendor works
Provide guidance, induction and training to project staff with respect to any aspect of quality assurance and quality control of the project management system
Developing the Project Quality Dept. Staffing and Resource Plan to ensure the timely
provision of adequate resources
In conjunction with other members of the Project Management Team, determination, assemble and preparation of final document dossiers (including record packages) for inclusion as part of the final handover documentation
Establish the Weekly Verification (Inspection and test) Programme detailing the required
inspections, tests and other verification activities
Monitor the implementation of the Project Quality Plan through audit, management review, document reconciliation, inspection, test and other work verification activities, and, discussion with the Project Management Team.
Develop and keep up-to-date, the Project Quality Audit Schedule, and undertake periodic systems and technical audits of the Project management system, including suppliers and subcontractors, and report findings to the Regional Quality Manager and the Project Manager
Monitor, issue and closeout of non-conforming work, including, corrective and preventive actions
Prepare Monthly Project Quality Report for submission to Client, and, to the Regional Quality Manager via the Project Manager
Establishment of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for all permanent works
Report regularly to the Regional Quality Manager, regarding the status of the Project QMS
Attend meeting with the Client Quality Representative
Experience and Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering (Diploma considered if supported by extensive experience)
Candidates with mechanical / electrical qualifications will not be considered
Minimum 15 years total experience in major civil works. Experience in marine works is preferred
Minimum 5 years as QC Manager on major civil (and/or marine) projects, preferably in the MiddleEast
Internal Auditing qualification is an added advantage
