Food Preparation
Cooks helpers prepare some of the foods that cooks and chefs will be cooking and serving to patrons. This includes washing and cleaning vegetables, slicing and cutting vegetables and meats and seasoning and marinating food. They weigh and measure food servings and prepare cooking equipment for food preparation. They may prepare and cook food themselves under the direction of a cook or chef.
Cleaning and Sanitizing
After cooking is completed in the kitchen, cooks helpers clean and sanitize the cooking areas, utensils, pots and pans. They properly prepare and store food in accordance with food safety guidelines and regulations. Cookss helpers also remove trash and sanitize trash cans used in the kitchen.
