Your New Role...

As the Planning Producer of Connect the World with Becky Anderson, you join a highly ambitious and passionate team committed to growing our regional and global reputation as the definitive news brand in the Middle East and around the world. You’ll support the production of the Emmy-award winning daily TV show from CNN’s programming hub in Abu Dhabi as well as producing interview segments that will feature on our multiple platforms.

You bring with you experience in broadcast, a track record of digital content creation, a deep understanding of producing content for social media, and knowledge about regional subjects like energy, tech, and climate that drive many conversations in this part of the world. You are a team player who can work effectively with the wider CTW team as well as across the Abu Dhabi production hub, supporting newsgathering and digital operations when needed.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Identify potential newsmaker guests and actively pursue them to secure appearances on the daily show.

  • Produce engaging interview segments for the show, including packaging guest segments effectively.

  • Coordinate all necessary logistics for both in-person and remote interviews, ensuring smooth execution.

  • Maintain communication with the wider CNN Planning team to discuss upcoming guest opportunities and coordinate schedules.

  • Collaborate with newsgathering teams to extract newsworthy soundbites from significant interviews.

  • Partner with digital teams to craft articles based on newsworthy interviews and guest segments, ensuring timely coverage.

  • Develop and execute social media content inspired by guest segments and customized content created with Becky.

  • Contribute to the shows digital strategy by generating ideas for on-air and online storytelling coverage.

Qualifications and Experience...

  • Someone with a thorough knowledge of international news and regional affairs. Substantial experience in broadcast journalism and news writing

  • An ideas generator with the ability to make fast, tough decisions

  • Prior experience of living and working in the Middle East and a willingness to travel throughout the region is preferred

  • Demonstrative knowledge of current affairs and the Middle East

  • Languages other than English, especially regional languages, are an advantage.
