Job Description
Supervision & Leadership
- Directs and manages site manpower, including electricians, linemen, and technicians.
- Ensures all activities are executed according to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Provides technical guidance and training to crews working on GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and protection systems.
Protection & Control Systems
- Oversees installation, testing, and maintenance of relay protection systems, SCADA, and control equipment.
- Ensures correct implementation of protection schemes to safeguard transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical assets.
- Troubleshoots faults and coordinates corrective actions to maintain grid reliability.
Operations & Maintenance
- Supervises preventive and corrective maintenance of substations.
- Reviews technical drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinates commissioning activities and ensures readiness of substations for operation.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforces strict adherence to electrical safety protocols and company policies.
- Exercises independent judgment to guarantee compliance with national and international standards.
- Maintains records and reporting systems for accountability and audits.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 8–15 years in high-voltage substations, specifically 110kV–380kV.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of GIS, transformers, breakers, and relay protection systems.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate large-scale projects.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving electrical faults under pressure.
