The Sharia Controller is responsible for ensuring that all banking products, services, operations, and transactions comply with Sharia principles and the guidelines approved by the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB). The role involves monitoring, review, advisory support, and coordination between business units and the Sharia Board to maintain full Sharia compliance across the bank.
Key Responsibilities
Review and monitor banking products, contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure Sharia compliance.
Conduct periodic Sharia audits and compliance reviews across departments.
Ensure implementation of Sharia Board resolutions and Fatwas.
Provide Sharia guidance to business units on new products, structuring, and transactions.
Identify Sharia non-compliance events and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare Sharia compliance reports for senior management and the Sharia Supervisory Board.
Coordinate Sharia training and awareness programs for staff.
Liaise with regulators regarding Sharia compliance matters when required.
