Role Summary

The Food Safety Officer is the guardian of Majama’s product integrity.

This role exists to protect:

  • Consumer trust
  • Brand equity
  • Regulatory standing
  • International expansion readiness

Majama is building a premium plant-based frozen dessert brand with global ambitions. Our food safety systems must meet UAE, GCC, EU, UK, and US export standards, not just local compliance minimums.

This is not a checklist role. This is a brand protection role.

  • Ensure full compliance with:
  • Dubai Municipality Food Code
  • HACCP requirements
  • ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 standards
  • GCC & export market requirements
  • Manage inspections and audits
  • Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities
  • Ensure trade license and product registrations remain current

2. Food Safety Systems & Documentation

  • Develop, implement, and maintain:
  • HACCP plans
  • SOPs
  • CCP monitoring systems
  • Traceability protocols
  • Maintain batch coding and recall readiness systems
  • Oversee allergen management and labeling compliance
  • Ensure document control meets international audit standards

3. Ice Cream & Frozen Dessert Manufacturing Oversight

  • Monitor and validate:
  • Pasteurization logs
  • Homogenization parameters
  • Batch & continuous freezer operations
  • Overrun control
  • Hardening tunnel / blast freezing processes
  • Storage temperature logs
  • Cold chain compliance
  • Ensure mix handling procedures prevent microbial growth risk
  • Validate shelf-life studies and stability testing
  • Prevent texture degradation and freezer burn through process control
  • Conduct regular factory inspections and hygiene audits
  • Implement corrective and preventive action plans

4. Supplier & Raw Material Compliance

  • Approve and audit ingredient suppliers
  • Maintain Certificates of Analysis (COA) records
  • Ensure plant-based ingredient sourcing meets allergen and labeling regulations
  • Validate raw material traceability and expiry management

5. Training & Food Safety Culture

  • Conduct food safety training for:
  • Production staff
  • Warehouse teams
  • Store teams (if applicable)
  • Embed food safety as a proactive culture — not just documentation

6. Incident & Recall Management

  • Lead investigation of non-conformities
  • Design and execute mock recall simulations
  • Ensure recall readiness within 4 hours
  • Protect brand reputation in any incident scenario

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field
  • HACCP certification (mandatory)
  • Dubai Municipality Food Safety certification (mandatory)
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in an ice cream or frozen dessert manufacturing facility (mandatory)
  • Direct hands-on experience with:
  • Pasteurization systems
  • Homogenization processes
  • Batch or continuous freezers
  • Hardening tunnels / blast freezers
  • Cold-chain management systems
  • Overrun measurement and control
  • Experience in dairy and/or plant-based frozen dessert production
  • Experience working in ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 certified facility preferred
  • Knowledge of EU, US, or GCC export compliance standards preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
