UNRWA is seeking to employ a qualified candidate as System Analyst.

Background:

In order to provide a streamlined approach of its emergency assistance in the West Bank, UNRWA is seeking to create a centralised information system for its food, cash and cash-for-work programmes of social assistance. Each programme currently has its own database and implementation approach. The system is expected to rationalize the Agency's efforts in processing applications, selecting beneficiaries, and to offer one interface for the people to apply for social safety assistance.
In this respect, an Application Systems-Analyst/Programmer is sought in order to design an IT solution. The Application Systems - Analyst / Programmer will work under the supervision of the Emergency Appeal Coordinator and in collaboration with the database working group.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

1) Liaise extensively with internal clients (database working group including staff from relevant implementing departments and programs) to get a strong understanding of the Agency's requirements, of the existing business models and of the data flows;
2) Draw up cost specifications and produce outline designs of the new IT systems, specifying the data, files and logical operations the system will perform, and the way data will be viewed by the user;
3) Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability;
4) Draw up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems;
5) Develop and Implement the new system as well as a testing schedule for the complete system;
6) Design, install the database back-end and provide a maintenance plan for it;

Our Client is seeking to hire an Oracle DBA 9i, 10g to join their team.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for logical and physical database design and maintenance in production and non-production environments. He will be responsible for performance, tuning, and security of all databases in all environments and will work with application developers to design and optimize SQL.

FUNCTIONS:
- Works with application teams to design and build databases, database objects, and optimized SQL.
- Install, configure and manage Oracle databases 8i, 9i and 10G.
- Conducts routine database/OS administrative tasks including the following: Backup and Recovery, Data imports/exports, SQL Optimization, Database Tuning, Database/OS Patching, Open/Manage Service Requests with Database/Hardware Vendors
- Proactively prevents production incidents through daily monitoring and review/verification of the database environment and scheduled database jobs.
- Recommends, develops, and implements procedures to ensure integrity, security, and privacy of the corporate database. Manages database security through user administration and granting correct roles and privileges.
- Performs 24x7 support for production systems.
- Creates, maintains, and enforces corporate database standards, procedures, and documentation.

Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems.
Oracle DBA certification preferred.
