Job Title: Design Manager - United Arab Emirates

Job Objective:

Coordinate all design matters relating to our projects in the Middle East and Asia. Ensure that the design process from defining the brief with the client to concept creation, through developed and technical design phases and the delivery of all temporary structures and interior fit-out for projects is achieved efficiently and professionally within a client’s budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and oversee the design process from brief to onsite execution.
  • Ensure that the Design Director is aware of all stages of the project and work closely with them and the CCO to ensure that the concepts are on brief and approved.
  • To be the main point of contact on design for the assigned project for the client, internal teams, and subcontractors during all stages of design and build.
  • Ensure effective communication of all design-related discussions/decisions with project stakeholders (Client, Design Director, Contractors, Structural Engineer, Local Authorities, and Project Management team).
  • Input and design direction into creative concepts during the brief-taking phase.
  • Preparation of mood boards and zoning plans to ensure a thorough brief to other members of the design team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Teaching, Learning and Development Lab (TLD) in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research and lab manager to work on research related to early childhood development (ECD) and the role of caregivers during the early years. The successful applicant will be well prepared to take a leadership role in overseeing a variety of projects and manage day-to-day lab procedures to produce a smooth workflow in the TLD lab. Experience in ECD research and participant recruitment in the UAE and the ability to speak and read Arabic fluently are considered significant strengths, as much of the research associated with the position will be conducted in the UAE and the greater Middle East region. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, Education or Human Development. Knowledge of the local ECD landscape and training in research software/tools (such as LENA, MangoldINTERACT, or MindWare) are highly desired. Prior experience managing research budgets is also desired.
